Energy Sector: The Minister of Water and Energy Receives Emirati Investors
The Minister of Water and Energy received, on Friday, January 16, 2026, at his Cabinet, a delegation of Emirati investors as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships and attract strategic investments into Cameroon’s energy sector.
Discussions focused on the opportunities available in the electricity sector, particularly those arising from the renationalization of the electricity distribution segment. This new context offers significant prospects for both public and private stakeholders interested in supporting the transformation of the sector.
The meeting also addressed the broader development of the energy sector, with emphasis on the growing demand for electricity driven by Cameroon’s expanding economy and the emergence of new industrial and infrastructure projects nationwide. In this regard, the Emirati investors expressed keen interest in contributing to the development of projects aligned with national priorities.
Both parties highlighted the importance of close cooperation between the Government and investors to support a comprehensive restructuring of the energy sector. This approach aims to facilitate investments across the entire value chain, including electricity generation, transmission networks, and service delivery, while ensuring improved quality of service and expanded access to electricity for the population.
The audience reflects the Government’s commitment to modernizing electrical infrastructure, strengthening energy governance, and fostering sustainable partnerships capable of meeting Cameroon’s current and future energy needs.
