The Water and Energy Minister, Gaston ELOUNDOU ESSOMBA, hereby informs the public that, in a bid to ensure the optimal operation of the Nachtigal Hydroelectric Power Plant, a series of tests and technical trials will be carried out on Sunday, 31 August 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Centre/South Electricity Zone, particularly in Yaoundé and its surrounding areas.

The operations consist of voltage recovery and separate network operation tests (island mode). The aim is to improve the security and reliability of the electrical system while optimizing the integration of the Nachtigal power plant.

As these operations may cause temporary disruptions in electricity supply in certain localities of the Centre, South and East Regions, the Minister reassures the populations of the affected Regions that the technical teams of SONATREL, ENEO and the NHPC company are mobilized to minimize the duration of the interruptions and, if necessary, to restore the public electricity service as quickly as possible.

He thanks them for their understanding and patience with regard to the inconvenience caused by this community work which is essential to guarantee a safer and more reliable electricity supply in the long term.
