Drinking Water Supply Project for the City of Yaoundé and its Surroundings from the Sanaga River (PAEPYS)
This project, which aims for an additional daily production of 300,000 m3/d expandable to 400,000 m3/d, will eventually make it possible to fill the drinking water supply deficit of the city of Yaoundé and its surroundings.
The actions carried out until October 2022 have brought the overall physical implementation rate of the project to 91.7%; Execution studies: 100%; supplies: 99.7%; works: 85.1%.
Work progress rates per batch:
- Raw water collection and pumping station in Nachtigal: 97%
- Water treatment plant in Emana Batchenga: 98.5%
- 90kV/30kV transformer station in Nkometou: 97.6%
- Nkometou treated water pumping station: 96.1%
- Nyom treated water pumping recovery station: 61%
- Ndindan Treated Water Reservoir: 5.2%
- Laying of pipes from Nachtigal to Yaoundé: 36%
There is a significant increase in work from 68.5% in October 2021 to 85.1% in October 2022. This is materialized by a strong increase in the laying of pipes ranging from 27,000 linear meters of all diameters (ductile iron & HDPE ) last year to 86,740 linear meters for all diameters this year. That is a remainder of 14,969 linear meters to achieve. It should be noted that this work slowed down due to the late release of the rights-of-way and the delay in payment of the company’s accounts for a few months.
In addition, it should be noted that a program to integrate this project into the current distribution network of the city of Yaoundé is being implemented.
