MINEE STAFF SENSITIZED ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ITS PROFESSIONAL APPLICATIONS
Staff of the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy (MINEE) took part in a two-day training seminar held from 9 to 10 September 2026 at The BEST Hotel in Yaoundé, under the theme: “Introduction to and Awareness of Artificial Intelligence and the Use of AI Tools in the Professional Environment.”
The training aimed to familiarize participants with the basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its rapid development and its growing role in the workplace. It also provided practical insights into how AI tools can support daily activities and improve efficiency.
Discussions highlighted several potential applications of AI, including drafting and editing administrative documents, summarizing and analysing information, preparing presentations, translating and improving content, and facilitating repetitive professional tasks. Participants were also introduced to the importance of writing clear and precise prompts to obtain relevant results from AI tools.
Particular emphasis was placed on the responsible and secure use of AI. Participants were reminded that AI-generated information must be carefully reviewed and verified before being used for professional purposes. Issues relating to data protection, confidentiality and the responsible handling of sensitive institutional information were also highlighted.
For MINEE staff, particularly those involved in communication and administrative duties, the training provided an opportunity to explore how AI can contribute to increased productivity, improved content quality and more efficient work processes.
The seminar concluded with a call for continued capacity-building and the gradual adoption of AI tools in the workplace, while keeping human expertise, accountability and sound professional judgement at the centre of decision-making.
